Admission (foreign students)
– Description:
Industrial Engineering is the branch of engineering concerned with the design, optimization, and management of complex industrial processes and systems. The Industrial Engineering Bachelor’s degree program is both theoretical and practical.
The specialty combines the study of classical and modern approaches in the design and operation of industrial systems. Students acquire a range of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in electrical engineering, electronics, computer science, and control systems. By obtaining fundamental expertise in various technical fields, Industrial Engineering students develop a skillset suited to modeling heterogeneous processes in technical and organizational systems, as well as solving complex production optimization tasks.
The Industrial Engineering degree program includes economics, finance, and management studies, which give its graduates a competitive advantage upon entering the job market. Since all courses within the degree program are taught in English and the curriculum is based on internationally recognized practices, students from this specialty have an advantage for inclusion in the Erasmus mobility programs. Industrial Engineering students complete their studies in a multicultural environment, which fosters inclusivity.
– Admission Requirements:
The admission score can be calculated as follows. To the grade in Mathematics, taken from the applicant’s high school diploma, is added the highest of the following grades: Physics, Informatics or Information Technology (also taken from the applicant’s high school diploma). To the resulting sum one of the following is added:
- grade from the Bulgarian language state exam, multiplied by a factor of 2.5
- grade from the Mathematics state exam, multiplied by a factor of 3
- grade from the Physics state exam, multiplied by a factor of 3
- grade from the university admission exam in Mathematics (early or regular session), multiplied by a factor of 3
The Industrial Engineering Bachelor’s program is a full-time four-year program, which ends with the completion of an engineering thesis project.
Language requirements: All applicants must provide proof of English language proficiency by meeting one of the following conditions:
- presenting a certificate of language proficiency (B1 or higher)
- presenting results from the English language state exam
- taking an admissions test in English.
– Degree Program and Included Subjects:
General engineering subjects that are part of the Industrial Engineering include: Industrial Management, Manufacturing Design, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, Automation and Control of Production Processes, Industrial Manufacturing Systems, Manufacturing Strategies, Control Systems. A wide variety of available electives is characteristic for this degree program.
– Professional Realization and Continued Education:
Graduates of the Industrial Engineering degree program are highly sought after for their ability to fill both managerial and manufacturing roles. Career paths for graduates include taking leading industry positions as: manufacturing systems engineers, industrial designers, project and production managers, process engineers, quality assurance inspectors, industrial systems designers and analysts. Industrial Engineering graduates often take up roles in research and development teams tackling complex multi-disciplinary projects regarding the technological, economic and organisational efforts of developing and deploying manufacturing systems.
Opportunities for continued education after completion of the Industrial Engineering Bachelor’s degree include a variety of Master’s and PhD programs.
The relevance of the specialty is based on the growing worldwide need for specialists with innovative thinking and entrepreneurial skills to meet the needs of modern business. It creates the link between technological knowledge and the necessary business and entrepreneurial skills. Combining the competences acquired in various fields from bachelor’s degrees with modern concepts and models for starting and managing businesses creates young professionals with innovative thinking and an entrepreneurial spirit who are the future investors, employers and employees in high-tech enterprises.
In order to recognize completed education in the Republic of Greece, legalization by the Regional Department of Education is required.
The following documents are to be submitted to the Regional Department of Education (in Plovdiv or another regional city):
- Application – according to the template
- Diploma of completed secondary education – original and photocopy or notarized photocopy
- If there is no information in the diploma for the subjects studied or the matriculation exams passed, an additional document is submitted
All documents must be translated into Bulgarian and notarized.
The legalization fee is BGN 50.
After the legalization, a document is obtained, which is presented for application and registration at the university admission office.
